“Can God make me become a Christian?”— Spurgeon

“When you say, “Can God make me become a Christian?” I tell you yes, for herein rests the power of the gospel. It does not ask your consent; but it gets it. It does not say, “Will you have it?” but it makes you willing in the day of God’s power….The gospel wants not your consent, it gets it. It knocks the enmity out of your heart. You say, I do not want to be saved; Christ says you shall be. He makes our will turn round, and then you cry, “Lord save, or I perish!”

  1. Amen! As all the years pass, I remain awe-struck that God the Father graciously revealed my sinfulness and enmity against Him and gifted me the most magnificent gift, salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ – full, complete, eternal and devoid of any contribution on my behalf. Rather than gathering in buildings of stone many of which are apostate and riddled with mysticism, blessing come if, as the apostles and disciples, saints gathered in homes. There would be no classification that only one individual with a degree is equipped to be an Ambassador of Christ. Teaching others of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is a Command of God to every disciple, and our hurting world needs the eternal truth that salvation is unmerited and sustained by abiding fidelity of our Good Shepherd. Thanks for this quote from Spurgeon.
